Not the best of images. It was a nice day but somewhat overcast close to Shining Tor (SJ 997 734) where this dropped down on me. Background too dark but nothing behind for miles. It dropped and took off again. No time for photographic niceties. Hand held shot initially in case it took off as indeed it did. On AI-servo but only three shots to choose from. I have had better opportunities later as shiown below: May 23rd. 2023 |

Three poor images but I was unable to adopt the optimum shooting position without spooking what is already a very twitchy bird at the best of times. At 1 degree C, far too cold for me to hang about. Point and shoot: November 24th. 2023 |

East side of the Goyt with the sailing club ahead in the distance. A warm sunny day (at last) and I was near the end of my anti-clockwise tour of the Errwood, when this jumped out ahead of me (I was on the footpath). I later realised this was chaperoning a fledgling, which given the distance I assumed was a female (see below). Available as a dowload PDF: June 23rd. 2024 |

A fledgling I believe, which given the distance (hence poor iamge) I mistook for a female: June 23rd. 2024 |

In the same place I got the June 23rd. shots so I would suggest they are the same brood (two seen): September 13th. 2024 |

Far too windy a day for useful shots: September 14th. 2024 |

No wind but a chilly 9 degrees and I can only see one of the Stonechat youngsters today. Looking more adult: September 28th. 2024 |
