The domain name of this website was first registered in 2008 in connection with a University Assignment, hence its early registration date. The current website was created in 2021 and started life as a lockdown project. It is a solo, non-commercial effort, for information and interest only. Not connected with any group or organisation. It proved feasible because I already owned a substantial archive of my own images. I have long since abandoned use of archive material to allow me to create new content, as a further interest. The website may develop over time incrementally.

I am now active increasingly in the Goyt Valley and thereabouts (adjacent postcodes). I still visit other areas but less often. Historically I would tend to confine myself to sites of interest in season where there is a lot of wildlife (mainly insect activity) and walk routes out of season (when it is cooler). I prefer to walk routes but that limits equipment carred and therefore photographic opportunities. Equipment selected a best-guess on the day and like the weather forecast, often wrong.

I do not sell images or any other content. I routinely donate content to bona-fide interest groups on request. That includes visitors from afar planning trips to the Goyt Valley, who have stumbled on this website by chance. This website has helped distant walking and running groups to plan their itineraries for different grades and enabled them to illustrate information supplied in support.

Clicking the top left banner on any page (except pop-up pages) will return the website home page just in case you get lost in the mist. Similarly, when applicable, the top right banner will always deliver the home page of that particular section of the website, where multiple pages are created in support. Below the menu banner is a clickable navigation ticker which will keep you up to date.

The website works perfectly on both my new and ancient smart phones, sometimes using pinch-zoom, but the website is intended primarily for viewing on a PC. It serves no useful purpose as a mobile application and was not intended to. Walking routes offered here take the form of PDF files which are viewed outside the website. Any rare external links will be forewarned and never include advertising.
