For a long time many people have been telling me they have seen the Red Kite but I had no recollection of ever doing so. Having seen this one today, I can say I doubt I have seen it before. It is a terrible image, yet I make no apologies for that. However, it is good enough for a record, my main purpose. I was as usual hunting insects at the time and this swooped over an adjacent steep rise, taking us both by surprise in a relatively remote part of the Goyt. I snatched the hood off my lens, lifted, pointed and shot. I was lucky to get even this as it quickly changed direction and moved away. It is unmistakably the Red Kite: June 4th. 2025

Another poor image but shot through a 150mm (MFT) lens while I was on the march. Too hot to carry a big lens. Hunting unusually over Foxlowe Edge: August 10th. 2025
