Goyt's Lane - The Track - MAIN >

Difficult to combine this relatively short stretch with another stretch because it deserves a mention of its own in my view. This unmetalled track is actually officially an adopted highway and has the same name as the tarmacked Goyt's Lane we all know that swoops down to Bunsal Cob. It is a legacy from yesteryear and no doubt originally served the farm which was displaced by the reservoir. At the entrance to the old railway, the first track on the right is the route concerned. I will use this as an alternative diversion from Route 6 in summer when the rich vegetation on the cheeks of the track will look spectacular and could deliver shooting opportunities. It will make the route slightly longer and tougher but I will need to walk slow to get the full benefit anyway.
